darren-profile-wide

I came into advertising from the world of publishing, and so I bring that all too rare commodity of a Creative Director who really knows how to write copy – yes, even grammatically correct copy!

It all started about 15 years ago at my first writing gig at DDB following my completion of Copyschool. At a big agency, I was thrown in the deep end on big clients – but as a junior I ably kept my head above water there for a number of years.

I then branched out on my own, setting up Make Some Noise and working with music and entertainment-related clients in a range of areas like sponsorship, publicity and events.

This well-rounded experience saw me move onto the SEE agency as a Senior Writer and Creative Group Head, honing my skills in the areas of creative strategy and consumer insights.

It was while there that I was approached by The Sphere Agency to fulfil the role of Creative Director. Campaign after campaign saw us win plenty of new business and raise the profile of the agency over the six or so years that I was there.

Most recently I have been part of the creative management team at digitally-led communications agency Channel T, working as Associate Creative Director on some of Australia’s best known FMCG brands.

So whether it’s TV or a tweet, directing creative teams or acting talent, engaging with humour or tackling more serious subjects, I feel equally at home.

No time? No budget? No worries! I am resourceful and cool in a crisis, always being cleverly creative while being commercially aware. Oh, and confident with clients too.

Over my time in the industry I have proven myself to add significant value at every level of the development process – both as a strategically-savvy Creative Director and an accomplished advertising writer.

Cheers, Darren.
